How many books can be checked out at a time?
Two.

How long can books be checked out for?
Books are loaned for two weeks at a time and may be renewed if a hold has not been placed on the book. Reference books, audiobooks, and videos are checked out to staff members only.

How much are book fines?
Students are charged 10¢ per day for overdue fines. Overdue notices are distributed once a week through language arts classes. Each book is also stamped with the due date when it is checked out. Students with fines of $0.50 or greater or a late book, can check out only one book until the fine is paid down or the late book returned.

What if I lose my ID card?
It is preferred that the student has a photo ID card to check out books. However, checkout is allowed without an ID.  The LRC staff can take ID pictures and print ID cards at any time. There is a $5.00 charge for replacements.
What are Playaways?
Playaways are audiobooks on an MP3 player. A permission form must be signed by a parent/guardian and returned to the LRC before students may check out Playaways for the year. Students are asked to use their own headphones when listening to Playaways. A lost, stolen, or damaged Playaway will cost the student $40.00. Plank currently has 52 titles available for check out:

What is the Caudill Reading Program?
Each year, 20 books are nominated for the Rebecca Caudill Young Readers' Book Award by students in grades 4-8 in the state of Illinois, Click here for a list of the current Caudill Nominees. In February, students in grades 4-8 vote for the winning book. In order to vote, a student must read 3 or more of the Caudill books. At Plank, we will honor students who read more of the Caudill books. First Mate honors will be given to students who read 10 or more of the Caudill books. Captain honors go to students who read 15 or more. Pirate King/Queen honors go to students who read all 20 of the Caudill books. Visit the LRC to learn more about the program. We will use these to keep count of your Caudill books.
What is the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), and what does it require of students?
Each student, upon registering at the Oswego Community Schools, must sign the district's AUP. This document, officially called the Guidelines for Acceptable Use of the Computer Network System, states that the student agrees to use the school computer equipment for educational purposes only. Failure to comply with these guidelines will result in disciplinary action. All staff must work together to ensure that students follow the guidelines whenever they are using school computers. Students are not allowed to change any computer settings, play games, instant messages or visit inappropriate sites.
Who are the LRC staff members?
